Sorry everyone, I’ve been shirking duties ever since the completion of the draft. I’ve got a small tidbit I think we’ll all enjoy - Mark Eckel’s top five offensive linemen:
I didn’t realize Chad Hutchinson converted from third string quarterback to offensive line. He must have had to really put on some pounds.

Maybe “Eck” meant to write STEVE Hutchinson. Perhaps that’s a better theory.

Trivial details.

Walter Jones???
What on God’s green earth is Eckel smoking?
Look at footballoutsiders.com Adjusted Line yards stats for direction of run.
http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol.php
Tra Thomas side of the Eagles line has 5.30 yards per carry around left end (#2, and 15% of Eagles carries) in the league and 6.00 yards per carry off left tackle (#1 in the league and 12% of Eagles carries).
Joe Thomas of the Browns line has 5.97 yards per carry around left end (#1 in the league and 4% of Browns carries) and 5.14 yards per carry off left tackle (#3 in the league and 17% of Browns carries).
Walter Jones was at 3.95 yards per carry (#19 in the league) and 3.86 yards per carry (#24 in the league).
No other left tackles even comes close to the production Tra Thomas and Joe Thomas gave their teams. The only right tackles to play at that level were Marc Colombo of the Cowboys and Kevin Shaffer of the Browns.

I think I read that ESPN was giving Joe Thomas props as the “best o-lineman in football.”
I think it may be a little quick to elevate him to that level but I agree, he’s had much more of an impact than Walter Jones. As for Tra Thomas, he going to another guy like McNabb, guys a lot fans don’t appreciate until they’re gone.
